Widget Submission

Grand Prize

The winning widget will be unveiled on July 11 at WidgetCon 2007 in New York City, and featured on Freewebs, Widgetbox and WidgetCon.com. The winner will also receive a $1000 prize and a spot on Regis & Kelly. Well, kidding about the Regis & Kelly part but there will be some press attention.

Deadline

  • All entries must be received by Noon PDT on Thursday, July 5, 2007.
  • You can continue to make changes to your widgets after you submit them.
  • The winner will be privately notified via email on Monday, July 9. A public announcement will be made at WidgetCon on July 11.

Judging Criteria

Things that will influence the judges:

  • Innovativeness. We'd really love to see is a "we didn't know that was possible!" moment.
  • Web 2.0-ness. Mashiness, usability, thick clientosity, beauty, virality, and other made up words.
  • Usefulness. Translation: A screensaver ain't gonna cut it.
  • Freewebsiness and Widgetboxiness. Look at what we do and make it easier, better or more fun. "Wow" us.

Eligibility

  • Contestants must be 18 years or older (and not work at Freewebs or Widgetbox).
  • It is open internationally. Contestants do NOT have to be US citizens.
  • It is open to all widgets registered on Widgetbox after June 10, 2007.
  • Contestants may submit multiple widgets.
  • Widget must not be submitted to any other widget gallery.
